JUVÉDERM® is an FDA-approved dermal filler that is used to smooth lines, soften wrinkles, and give features like lips a plumper, more youthful appearance. It is an injectable gel composed of a substance called hyaluronic acid, which is a “water-loving” molecule found naturally in the human body.
What Is Juvederm Used For?
Juvederm is most commonly used to:

What varieties of juvederm are there?
Juvederm Ultra XC, Juvederm Ultra Plus XC and Juvederm Voluma XC. Each of these products contain lidocaine, a local anesthetic providing increased comfort during and after treatment. Patients often ask about the differences between the products in the Juvederm family because they sound very similar. The main difference is the thickness of each formula and what it is used for. JUVEDERM ULTRA XC
Juvederm Ultra XC has a thin consistency formulated with smaller particles. It is used more superficially in thin tissue to address moderate lines and wrinkles, especially around the eyes, nose and mouth. Natural-looking results usually last 9-12 months.
JUVEDERM ULTRA PLUS XC
Juvederm Ultra Plus XC has a thicker consistency formulated with larger particles. It is used for deeper and more severe facial lines and wrinkles. Its results typically last 9-12 months as well.
JUVEDERM VOLUMA XC
Juvederm Voluma XC is slightly different from regular Juvederm products in that it has been FDA approved specifically to add volume to the cheek area. It is the thickest and most elastic product in its family. Although Voluma has many uses, it is especially good for adding volume to sunken cheeks, lifting the cheeks and creating contours for up to two years. This is currently the only filler approved for this use.
JUVEDERM VOLBELLA XC
Juvederm Volbella XC has been formulated with very small particles. It is used to addresses fine lines and wrinkles, especially around the lips. Volbella is also very effective with adding a subtle and very natural fullness to the lips.
